Portage College

Portage College connects people with knowledge, skills and opportunities, empowering them to transform themselves and make a difference. The Town of St. Paul is home to one of the seven strategically located College campuses across Northeast Alberta.

The College boasts three Centres of applied research including a Water Treatment Centre, a potable water and wastewater simulation lab used to train operators; a Pipeline Training Centre featuring a 132-acre controlled release training (CRT) site that includes a mock camp for students, a fully operational control centre and an educational closed-loop pipeline; and a Food Sciences Centre that provides comprehensive food services training for students and creates food innovation opportunities for entrepreneurs and new start-ups.

Lakeland College

Under an hours’ drive from the STEP Region is Lakeland College, with two campus locations in Vermilion and Lloydminster. At the College, students take charge of their future and become leaders today through career-relevant, industry driven programming and experiential learning opportunities. Lakeland offers 50-plus programs and serves more than 7,000 credit and non-credit students every year at our campuses in Vermilion and Lloydminster, and through online and off-site delivery.

University Blue Quills (UnBQ)

University Blue Quills (UnBQ), on Treaty 6 Territory, near the Town of St. Paul, is Canada’s first Indigenous controlled education centre. They serve the academic and training needs of people of all cultures, encouraging learners to experience studying in a unique cultural and academic environment. Students can participate in any of the University’s over 30 certificate, diploma or degree programs offered across various areas of study.
