The STEP Region represents several communities from the County of St. Paul, located in the northeast region of Alberta, only 1.5 hours east of the City of Edmonton.
The STEP Region has over 3,500 sq. km. of film-friendly, camera-loving space ready to play its part in your story. The Region has access to world-class post facilities, standing sets, backlots and soundstages – we are always camera ready.
STEP Region Grant - Up to $50,000
Funding Incentives
No matter what your budget, you will get more for your production dollar in the STEP Region.Types of eligible projects:
- Theatrical feature films
- Scripted television series
- Made for television movies
- Documentaries
Funding provides assistance in the form of conditional grant contribution of eligible STEP labour and costs to a maximum capped on a tiered basis according to the regional spend:

- Alberta Foundation for the Arts – Up to $15,000
- Alberta Media Fund – Up to $380,000
- Alberta’s Film and Television Tax Credit – refundable tax credits up to 30% on production and labour costs
